Business Relations

Bavaria and Saudi Arabia are powerful and reliable economic partners.

With a population of 34.8 million, Saudi Arabia is the largest country of the Arabian Peninsula. The Kingdom offers the largest market in the Gulf region. At the same time, Saudi Arabia is the second most important target market for exports in the region for the Free State of Bavaria. Germany is the fourth most important supplier country for Saudi Arabia, with a share of 5.4 percent of total trade. The most important partner is China (16.5 percent), followed by the USA (13.3 percent) and the UAE (as a transshipment center).

More than 30 Bavarian companies are located in Saudi Arabia in order to exploit the economic potential. These include global players such as Siemens, Rohde & Schwarz, Linde or TÜV Süd, who are actively helping to shape the ambitious diversification efforts and the development of the country in the context of Vision 2030 in Saudi Arabia.

Since August 2020, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy has had a representative office at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Abroad (AHK) in Riyadh. The representative office supports Bavarian companies in entering the market in Saudi Arabia, in establishing contacts with end customers in the local market and in the context of networking events.
