Modon to Build New Industrial Zone Near Egypt’s Ras El Hekma Megaproject

A new industrial zone covering 10 million square meters is set to be built near Egypt’s Ras El Hekma megaproject, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi-listed Modon Holding and Egypt’s Elsewedy Industrial Development. Located south of the Alexandria-Matrouh highway and opposite the Ras El Hekma site, the zone will initially focus on attracting manufacturers and investors in the building materials sector. The partnership aims to boost development in the Ras El Hekma area, with companies such as Elsewedy Electric, 3S Ready Mix Concrete, RAK Ceramics, and Hitech Concrete setting up bases in the new industrial zone. Over the next decade, the industrial hub is expected to generate more than 20,000 jobs. Once complete, Ras El Hekma will span 171 million square meters, house up to two million people, and contribute $25 billion annually to Egypt’s GDP, creating 750,000 jobs directly and indirectly.
