Economic Relations

Egypt is a key country for Germany and Bavaria in the MENA region.
The relationship is close, and both the Bavarian and Egyptian sides are committed to further deepening it. Joint areas of interest include hydrogen, information and communication technologies, smart city technologies, environmental and medical technology.

The trade volume between Bavaria and Egypt amounts to over 620 million euros in 2024, with Bavaria showing a trade surplus.
Egypt’s most important exports overall include gas, fertilizers, plastics, agricultural products, as well as textiles and clothing.
To Bavaria, Egypt mainly exports electrical products, foodstuffs, textiles and clothing, and various raw materials. Conversely, Egypt imports vehicles, electrical products, machinery, and chemical goods from Bavaria.

Bavarian companies thus support Egypt’s growth process with technologies and know-how.
Notable Bavarian investments in Egypt have been made by Leoni, Knauf, Siemens AG, and Siemens Energy.
