Egypt is advancing its high-speed electric rail network as a major transport project aimed at connecting Upper Egypt and supporting a shift toward sustainable transportation, with the second line running approximately 1,100 kilometers from 6th of October City to Aswan and Abu Simbel, forming one of the most ambitious parts of the network and involving thousands of engineers and workers. The line will pass from the Fayoum and Beni Suef area to Abu Simbel and include 36 stations, with 10 high-speed stations linking major cities and 26 regional stations serving smaller areas to improve daily mobility. The system is designed to integrate with other rail lines, connecting with the first line at October Gardens and the third line at Qena, enabling smooth travel across the country. Beyond transport, the project will support economic development by linking major industrial zones and key agricultural areas, improving the movement of goods and connecting production to markets and export points. It is also expected to boost tourism by linking major historical destinations in Upper Egypt with Red Sea coastal areas, allowing easier travel for visitors. The project will create thousands of jobs and help reduce environmental pollution by offering a cleaner transport option, contributing to long-term development and positioning Egypt as a regional hub for modern transport and logistics.
